Registered massage therapists assess and treat physical dysfunction and pain of the soft tissue of the body through hands-on techniques. Soft tissue refers to muscle, tendons, ligaments and blood vessels. Massage therapy can help reduce muscle tension, relieve pain, reduce stress and improve circulation and is utilized for a variety of purposes including relaxation, sport and rehab, post-surgery, etc. Your massage therapist will use a variety of techniques and movements, working within your pressure and pain tolerance.
Chiropractic is a regulated health care profession in Canada focused on assessing, diagnosing and treating concerns and issues arising from the muscles, bones, joints and the nervous system. Chiropractors utilize a hands-on, non-invasive and drug-free approach to care, while often incorporating exercise, rehab, modalities and education into their treatments.
Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST) is a pain-free assisted stretch system that assesses and improves flexibility in the body. FST can help you to perform better, prevent injury, and reduce pain. FST is administered by a Registered Massage Therapist and therefore would be covered by insurance benefit plans under Registered Massage Therapy.
Physiotherapy focuses on improving your physical function, mobility, and overall quality of life. Whether you’re recovering from an injury or managing a chronic condition, physiotherapy has you covered with sessions being customized to your individual needs and goals. The sessions may include but are not limited to manual therapy, exercise prescription, and modalities.
Through skillful manipulation of the body, Osteopaths focus on facilitating the health of joints and muscles. They can help to reduce pain and stiffness, increase range of motion, and strengthen the overall framework of the body.
